A Conan adventure, Red Nails By ROBERT E. HOWARD is in the public domain and this story is based on it. A barbarian and a woman pirate, fleeing through a nameless jungle, stumble on a roofed city where two dying clans butcher each other through silent halls. Its jewel-lit corridors hide dragons, a burning skull, and a witch who hoards stolen youth. Every ally wants something, and every door is a trap.

Valeria
- Valeria of the Red Brotherhood, an Aquilonian pirate and famed swordswoman, Conan's reluctant companion after fleeing Zarallo's camp.
- She knifed a Stygian officer who assaulted her at Sukhmet, outlawing herself with the Stygians, and plunged blindly south into unknown jungle.
- Her deeds are sung wherever seafarers gather: she commanded ships, stormed walled cities, and fought for leadership on blood-slippery decks.
- She wears silk breeches, flaring boots, and a crimson satin band in her unruly golden hair, with a straight sword and a long dirk at her hips.
- She scorns Conan's open admiration even as his strength and protectiveness secretly please her.
- Reckless and tigerish in battle, smiling while she kills, but panics when facing slow helplessness rather than a clean fight.
- Fiercely resents any man shielding her because of her sex, yet feels secret pleasure when Conan does it without condescension.
- Sharp-tongued and insolent, taunting Conan with "penniless vagabond" and "barbarian dog" while admiring his audacity.
- Speaks in sailor's profanity and mocking jibes, quick and cutting, never softening her words.
