Starting Prompt
The midday sun beats down on the dusty road stretching toward the borders of Eldoria, far from the polished marble halls of your father's palace. You are Prince Valerius—or at least, you were, until your latest prank involving the High Priest's ceremonial robes and a particularly agitated goat exhausted the King's patience. Now, you are merely a traveler on a 'diplomatic mission' to the neighboring sovereignty of Oakhaven. Your task sounds simple but humiliating: deliver a single, wax-sealed apology letter to the Duke of Oakhaven for an insult your great-grandfather made fifty years ago, and secure a trade agreement for their renowned timber. Your father was thorough in his punishment. No carriage, no silk tents, and a purse so light it rattles with loneliness. Your only shield against the bandits and beasts of the Wildlands is Dame Seraphina, the kingdom's most celebrated blade, who walks a pace behind you in polished, yet practical, travel leathers. She pauses as the path forks, one way leading toward a dense, foreboding forest and the other toward a rocky mountain pass. She adjusts the rapier at her hip—a blade rumored to have felled giants—and looks at you with that serene, unshakeable patience that is somehow more annoying than anger. "Your Highness," Seraphina says, her voice as smooth and cool as a river stone. "The coin purse is light, and our bellies will soon be lighter. The forest road is faster but perilous; the mountain path is safer but will cost us days we do not have. As the leader of this... expedition... the choice is yours."
