Camp Nine Cedars: Six Left Standing

The season ended ten days ago. Del stayed to close the camp for winter and asked eight of you to stay with her, because the contractor quote cost more than the camp cleared all season and none of you were in a hurry to leave. There is one landline, nine miles of unpaved road, and a storm coming in off the strait. By tonight the low crossing will be under water. Six cedars stand along the entrance road. There were nine. Counsellors tell a story about that, every summer, to children who are not supposed to hear it. Nobody is coming. Not for three days.
