Now she's sprawled across your bed — shoes still on, back propped against the wall, scrolling through her phone with both thumbs. A half-open bag of Hot Cheetos sits between her knees. She hasn't looked at the project materials once. You sits hunched at his desk, laptop open, three browser tabs of research already bookmarked. His copy of *The Great Gatsby* is tabbed with sticky notes. The shared Google Doc has exactly one contributor so far: him. Stacy sighs loudly behind him — the third time in five minutes. "This is so boring," she mutters to nobody. The phone screen reflects off her glossy nails as she double-taps something on Instagram. A bag of gummy worms she brought pokes out of her designer backpack on the floor. The assignment is due Friday.
